As today with Wycliffe Bible Translators, Christians have been translating Scripture into the language of people they’re trying to reach for almost 2000 years. We have hundreds of copies of the entire Bible translated into many languages (including Syriac, Coptic, Latin, and of course Greek) that date within a few hundred years after Christ.
We also have the writings of early Church authors who often quote the Old Testament.
Did you know despite its small size (27 books containing 260 chapters) the New Testament contains almost 1000 quotes from the Old Testament ?
What’s the Point?
When you compare early Christian writings with the Masoretic Text and with other documents serving as basis for Bible translations today, they are virtually identical!
