“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” – Genesis 2: 7

1.  Science tells us that the human body is comprised of at least 59 elements – everyone of these can be found in the clay and dirt of the earth (really the earth’s crust)

  • In 1982, NASA’s Ames Research Center concluded a study whereby they demonstrated that every element found in the human body can be found within the earth’s crust 1

2.  Of these, there are 28 elements that are essential for life…the other 31 we for the most part pick up from the environment over the course of our lives:

  • Top 5 elements are in green: Hydrogen (H), Oxygen (O) – after all, we are 70% water; Calcium (Ca) – yes, our bones, Carbon (C), Nitrogen (N)
  • Next 5 elements are in blue: Sodium (Na), Magnesium (Mg), Potassium (K), Phosphorus (P), Sulfur (S)
  • There are considered to be 10 significant trace elements in yellow – i.e., you still need them to survive: Flourine (F), Chlorine (Cl), Manganese (Mn), Iron (Fe), Cobalt (Co), Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Selenium (Se), Molybdenum (Mo), Iodine (I)
  • There are considered to be another 8 minor trace elements in pink – again, you would also need these to be in good health: Lithium (Li), Aluminum (Al), Silicon (Si), Vanadium (V), Arsenic (As), Bromine (Br), Strontium (Sr), Lead (Pb) 2
