“Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man.”                – Genesis 7: 17 – 21

1.  The Ark’s dimensions as laid out in Scripture are 300 cubits long by 50 cubits wide by 30 cubits high

  • If a cubit is roughly 18 inches, then the dimensions are 450 feet long by 75 feet wide by 45 feet high

2.  According to the Bible, the Flood waters in Noah’s day reached 15 cubits above the highest mountain

  • We’re not talking about Mount Everest here at its present height
  • The great mountain ranges we see in the world today are Post-Flood – they come about as a result of plate tectonics, and pressure of the water upon ocean floors

3.  A fully loaded Ark would have a draught of just below 15 cubits

  • In other words, the Ark’s bottom would be just under 15 cubits below the surface of the water
  • God’s design for the Ark ensures just enough clearance so that the Ark wouldn’t run aground or damage its hull
