The Bible speaks to the existence of the Jet Stream
The existence of the jet stream has only been known and understood really since World War II during Allied bombing runs over both Germany and Japan. To give you a sense of these high atmospheric winds: to fly from New York to Tokyo, it will generally take 14 + hours in a Boeing 747 - the return trip usually will take little more than 11 hours (i.e., 14 hours going East to West vs. 11 hours going West to East).
