Ziggurats are Evidence of the Bible’s Historical Accuracy

“Then they said to one another, ‘Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.’ They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.'” Genesis 11: 3-4

This satellite photo was taken over the ancient Plain of Shinar in modern day Iraq – this structure is a Ziggurat or Tower that dates back nearly 4500 years. The Tower of Babel would have been similar to this.

In a recent exhibit on Iraq/Babylon, New York’s American Museum of Natural History, linked Shinar’s Ziggurats with the Tower of Babel.

This structure, like many others, provides corroborating physical evidence to the Biblical text – thereby showing it to be a credible witness of history.
